Landscape Institute nominated me.
"When they wrote to tell me I had received an MBE, I was stunned. It is the the sort of thing that happens to other people.
"I thoroughly enjoyed working at the Institute and the variety of the job meant every one day was different. It is so good to be honoured for doing a
job I have enjoyed so much
"I am glad to still be in contact with the landscape profession through
the Landscape Design Trust.”
Liz Lake, the Landscape Design Trust's Chair of Trustees, added: “Sheila Harvey has been a committed trustee of the Landscape Design Trust for many years. All her fellow trustees are delighted that her contribution to landscape architecture has been recognised at a national level.
“Her positive involvement in the Trust is only one of her achievements and, as an organisation, we are lucky to benefit from her extensive knowledge of the profession, as well as her common sense and good humour. Her award is much deserved and we send her our very best wishes.”
President of the Landscape Institute Nigel Thorne commented: “Sheila
played an integral role in the development of the Institute as a whole
over a period of more than 40 years and transformed the library from
just from a few shelves in an office into the valued and well-used
resource it is today.”
